SUMMARY: The Laurel Colored Cemetery was located in the 2300 block of Belair Road. This cemetery was once the burial place for black Civil War veterans, African-American leaders, and members of the clergy.

So fast came the flood that it is doubtful whether the men on the upper levels had time to drop their tools and run for their lives to the old shaft. SUMMARY: The Belmont House was built in 1738. It sits on 82 acres of land. The mansion was built by Caleb Dorsey but is now owned by the American Chemical Society. The "Belmont Conference" is an old estate that has been converted into a conference center. Workers at the conference center have heard the sounds of horses race up the long driveway; then, a knock is often heard at the front door. But, no one is ever there.

SUMMARY: People have seen ghosts at night in the girls dorm, Barry Hall on the 2nd floor. The ghost's name is Mary Walker. The students feel that Mary is evil.

SUMMARY: A delighfully creepy abandoned hospital, going to ruin in the woods. Large with several outbuildings, it's a joy to explore.

SUMMARY: The theater on campus, Brua Hall, is said to be haunted by a man from the Civil War era. His apparition frequently visits the theater at night and has been spotted backstage and on the catwalk of the theater.

SUMMARY: In the 1960's, three people hung themselves on the basement floor, which is also known as "the pit." It is now reportedly haunted by at least one and maybe more ghosts. This floor is closed off at all times except Halloween when they open it for the big haunted house celebtration.

SUMMARY: It is said that the area surrounding Hogback Road near its bridge was and is still used by the KKK.

SUMMARY: A female student at the Dubois Area High School was raped and murdered in the woods beside the field.

SUMMARY: Just outside of Cumberland, a former inn for elites and the well-to-do was transformed into a hospital during the Civil War. Things haven't been the same since.

SUMMARY: Two mysterious deaths occurred in the Presidential Suite of the Omni Shoreham hotel. The first death took place in 1930. The executive housekeeper, Juliette Brown, died in that room. She was staying in the suite along with the owner of the hotel and his family. She woke up feeling very sick at 4:00 am. She died when she was dialing the phone for help.

SUMMARY: During the Civil War, the men of southern (and sometimes northern) families often left to fight with the Confederacy. The women were left alone in their homes with no men to protect them. The war invariably came to the backyards and sometimes into the homes of these women.

SUMMARY: Built in 1888 by African American proprietor Thomas S. Lovett, the hotel, built on a hilltop provides a splendid view of Harpers Ferry, WV and the Potomac river. The hotel, which still hosts guests even today has a long history including some tragedy events. Employees and guest alike have experienced the paranormal within the confines of this aging hotel.
