"Death is the great Teacher, stern, cold, inexorable, irresistible; whom the collected might of the world cannot stay or ward off. The breath, that parting from the lips of King or beggar, scarcely stirs the hushed air, cannot be bought, or brought back for a moment, with the wealth of Empires. What a lesson is this, teaching our frailty and feebleness, and an Infinite Power beyond us! It is a fearful lesson, that never becomes familiar. It walks through the earth in dread mystery, and lays it hands upon all. It is a universal lesson, that is read everywhere and by all men. Its message comes every year and every day. The past years are crowded with its sad and solemn mementoes; and death's finger traces its handwriting upon the walls of every human habitation." --Albert Pike, Morals and Dogma

BRIEF: Old lady in 30's/40's style day dress walking small white dog disappears SUMMARY: Along a small less-used segmented area of Gunpowder Falls State Park in Harford county, I have observed a strange occurrence 3 times in the past year or so. Along Laurel Bush road and Guyton road I have observed an old woman in a nice clean day dress and a big floppy bonnet like/gardening hat (1930's/40's style) walking a small clean white terrier dog. As I pass her she turns her back and looks down and picks her dog up always keeping her back to me passing in my truck. As I make the sharp curve to the left and turn around she is completely gone. BRIEF: Creepiness in the house. SUMMARY: Foul play leaves behind a chatty poltergeist.
Note: Originally reported as Grantsville, MD, the location is actually in Grantsville, WV. BRIEF: Phantom beotch. SUMMARY: People have seen ghosts at night in the girls dorm, Barry Hall on the 2nd floor. The ghost's name is Mary Walker. The students feel that Mary is evil. BRIEF: Fooled by the citizens of St. Michaels, the British only managed to hit this one house SUMMARY: During the War of 1812, the British wanted to wreck the fledgling shipyard and the town, they were going to blast it their warships' cannons. The resident of St Michael residents learned of their plans and they hastily climbed up the highest trees and placed lighted lanterns at the tops of the trees to fool gunners into thinking they represented houses and thus overshoot their mark. Only one house was hit during the firing of the cannons and a lot of trees got blown away. The little house that got hit became famous and was then know as The Cannonball House.
This house is believed to be haunted; people have heard footsteps and sounds of walking in the house.
