BRIEF: The scene of a bloody battle SUMMARY: Blandensburg was the scene of a bloody battle between British and American forces on August 24, 1814, during the War of 1812. The British troops sailed up the Patuxent River and landed near Benedict, Maryland. They then traveled by foot through Nottingham and Upper Marlboro. BRIEF: Clover Adams presumably took her own life SUMMARY: Clover Adams was married to the owner of one of the two side-by-side mansions that now make up the Hay-Adams Hotel. Henry Adams was completing the construction of the mansion in 1885. Clover, who had been occasionally depressed and mourning her father, took her own life. Some people thought she was murdered. BRIEF: Haines Point area sports several apparitions SUMMARY: Near Haines Point, this building is located next to where the Lincoln assassination conspirators were hung and is reportedly very haunted. BRIEF: Blown all out of proportion? SUMMARY: Called T.N.T. area because the U.S. military used to make explosives there during World War II. There are over 100 igloos in the area, where they stored the T.N.T. This is the place where sightings of the Mothman have occurred. The first sighting was here at the old North Power Plant, destroyed back in 1995. Numerous people have reported sighting the creature, known as a precursor to tragedy large and small. Several articles and press reports in local papers. The FBI and secret service investigated; military possibly involved due to the TNT plant.
