BRIEF: Don't run in circles SUMMARY: This is an old cemetery that is known to be haunted. BRIEF: Orbs and a faint blue glow haunt this cemetery SUMMARY: The Boonton Grave yard is known to be haunted by ghostly apparitions. Some people have reported seeing gravestones glowing with a faint blue hue at night. Others have heard ghostly voices and seen orbs floating through the cemetery. BRIEF: Local cemetery open since 1847 SUMMARY: Located on the banks of the James river, this cemetery is home to many famous local spooks, and is reportedly the burial site of Virginia’s only know vampire. The cemetery is home to many civil war era soldiers, including the nearly 18,000 buried near the infamous “Pyramid”. Presidents John Tyler and James Monroe, and Confederate General JEB Stuart are among the cemeteries more famous guests. Locals and visitors alike report a feeling of uneasiness when visiting the cemetery, and there is lack of lore about strange sightings and noises in and around the grounds. When viewed from on of the many vantage points along the James, Hollywood sits elegantly, if not a little foreboding, on a steep river bank. The Pyramid can be seen from far outside the cemetery, and has been known to give observers a shiver on site alone. BRIEF: Farm, poor-house, boys home, state asylum, what next? A Berkeley County Park! SUMMARY: Stone house on property that was a farm, almshouse, boys home, asylum, and having a troubled past. Also, a cemetary on the property dates back to 1700's.
There are 3 cemeteries on the property including an unmarked area atop a hill.
Currently the property is Poor House Farm Park. The park service is leaving the hill alone as to not disturb the unmarked graves. |
