Annihilating compartmentalization

"Ask yourself: what would someone have to tell you, or what would someone have to do to you, to get you to do something you couldn't possibly believe you were capable of. And examine that. Learn from it. Don't judge it, don't stand separate from it. Be willing to stand in the shoes of people you are judging, and I hope that 900 plus people, that they die, and the way they died, can offer us something so that their lives weren't in vain." --Stephan Jones, Jim Jones' son, speaking to Discovery Channel in 2004 about the mass suicide / murder at Jonestown, Guyana

Oddest Things In Turnquist, Elkton, Maryland

I live in Turnquist, the townhomes in Elkton, MD.

I've only lived here for about 9-almost 10 months and I've experienced the oddest things.I'll hear a baby crying-and it won't be one of mine. I hear voices and footsteps in my home.

I've also heard some odd stories about things that occur within the neighborhood. I know that there was a plane crash here in the early 60's and I often wonder if it could be their ghosts...this used to be farmland.

I've also heard my name called and if I go into my laundry room my washer door(which is usually kept closed)will be open-the same goes for my dryer.

I've seen shadows too, of people just casually walking. I often wonder if they mean harm or not.

I've also heard voices in my baby monitor right as a storm has begun.

I can't sleep some nights because I'm unsure about whether to live in fear or not....

I lived in Turnquist during the late 80's early 90's. Experienced sounds like pots rattling, footsteps, and had two glasses explode which led to my researching the plane crash of 1963. I researched the event in the News Journal papers (via microfilm at the Wilmington Public Library). I was shocked to see that the plane had come from Puerto Rico....homeland of my parents, grandparents, etc. I had two young daughters at the time and was told that the events did not begin until I moved into the home with my husband (he had lived there as a single man). We knew of only one neighbor at the time who was aware of the plane crash...we have since seen the monument at the entrance acknowledging the event. Pan Am airlines owned the plane and had indicated they would memorialize the victims; they never did as they went out of business. My understanding is that a group of surviving families/friends finally produced the small monument. I will never forget the experiences there.

My uncle lives in Turnquist and for years has had cabinets banging open and shut on their own. I'll ask him for more detail next time I see him. My brother and his wife also live in Turnquist, and his wife has seen ghosts there. I've always heard the place was haunted.

Sounds like it has potential for an investigation. If your uncle is willing, we might like to do an interview of him on his experiences. This could possibly become material for the book project.

Post here or send me an email as you find out more.

I've always heard stories about the place, but at a Halloween party Saturday we were talking about it, which renewed my interest and led me to search a bit, landing me here. :)

I visited my grandmother today and we chatted about it a bit. The townhouses up front, the older ones with basements, are supposed to be the worst. People have moved out due to hearing babies crying and voices, etc. My uncle heard someone upstairs once and was so sure that someone was there that he left the door open as an escape route from any burlars, etc., and was ready to kick butt. Of course, when he went upstairs, no one was there. (This is all what my grandma told me)
My grandmother said she saw the plane coming down that night. It was storming, and there was an old farmhouse back there. She said it had cut off the tops of the trees as it came in.
I haven't seen that uncle for quite a while, but I'll ask around some more about it.

Hmm, a friend of mine and I were thinking of trying to record EVPs. I wonder if we might get something there...

I'd be interested in attempting to record some EVPs, do some photo work and survey the area with an EMF meter. I'm also going to see if I can get any records from the FAA, etc. on the crash.
