Crazy Devil Worshippers at Great Falls Cave

This happened back in about 1986-87. A group of friends and my boyfriend at the time decided to go cave exploring at Great Falls on the Maryland side. Ay the time, I had no idea of the history of the place. Back in the 1860's, people had mined the hillside/rocks and various streams for gold, which was actually found there.

Anyway, the particular cave we went to had only a very narrow and deep hole you had to go through in order to get into the cave. (I wasn't too thrilled about that, but I went into it anyway.) Once inside, the thing opened up into a big hallway like tunnel, in which you could stand up and then some. It was so dark and so cold in there.

We walked through it for a while, then, came to like a small room off to the left. In order to get into that one, you had to sort of climb up a few rocks to get into this small room. There were paintings on the walls of varios things, amoung them devil signs and such. This creeped me out.

On several sides of the walls were places where someone had carved ledges into the rock, and had put candles on them, which were still there. My friend Andy lit one of the candles. As soon as he sat it back on the ledge, it freaking literally jumped off and onto the ground and went out. I had never experienced anything so creepy even to this day.

Needless to say, my boyfriend and I decided to let them explore some more while we went back out and waited for them on the outside. Whoever was in there did not seem to want the candles lit! The hole to enter the cave has since been filled in with dirt. I think it was either a spirit of someone still looking for gold in the mine, or some crazy devil worshippers summoned up some bad shit.

The legendary "religious tolerance" of the USA is now being used against itself from within.

"When you get old, the only things you remember are the things you dared to do and the things you didn't dare to do. All the daily stuff, the things you had to do, the things someone paid you to do, blur into the nothingness of 'unimportant to your soul', and when you look back on your life you only see the dreams you made happen and the dreams you were afraid to pursue."
