BRIEF: Death and drowning... SUMMARY: The Loy's Station covered bridge was built around 1860 by the Loy family. The family owned the feed mill and post office at Loy's Station, which was a small community with a railroad station.
The original bridge was modified in 1929. New steel beams were installed to replace the original wooden beams and the lateral bracing under the wooden floor. The bridge was destroyed by arson in 1991. Volunteers restored the bridge using timbers salvaged from the old bridge.
During the Civil War the Union and Confederate Armies marched through Frederick and Thurmont on their way to Gettysburg and Antietam. Many small skirmishes took place around Frederick and Thurmont. The soldiers often camped near covered bridges for protective cover and usually water for their horses.
The covered bridges are reportedly haunted by the soldiers who died there and by people that drowned in the water below.
The bridge was built in 1880 and it located on Old Frederick Road, in Creagerstown. BRIEF: A creepy, deserted old place in the woods. SUMMARY: Deep in the woods, within the Dickerson Conservation Park, under the shadow of the smokestack, there is a dilapidated wooden shanty. It's run-down and apparently long-deserted, yet fresh ashes perhaps indicate something darker. I'm telling you: it was too clean.
Rumor tells that the floor has a phantom blood stain that can not be removed; however, we found no evidence of any bloodstain. BRIEF: "It's that damn dam..." SUMMARY: Caroline County had two groups of Indians living in the territory. The Susquehannoughs tribe lived in the northern part and they belonged to the Iroquois family of Indian. They were fierce and aggressive. The Algonquins Indians lived on the the Eastern Shore. They were more peaceful. SUMMARY: The house dates back to Civil War days. The house is reportedly haunted. The sounds of footsteps, thunds, banging, are heard that have no explanation. Candles have risen in the air and moved across the room all by themsleves. Ghostly apparitions have been seen. Ghostly soldiers dress in Civil War uniforms have appeared in the house and on the lawn.
