What is East Ghost?

EastGhost is a social nexus for paranormal enthusiasts, researchers and the curious that exists to empower, showcase and connect individuals, groups and information. Open, inclusive and climate-controlled, it offers a positive and constructive atmosphere that's enjoyable and maximally conducive to sharing and learning. One purpose is the collection, discussion and presentation of knowledge and findings: scientific, spiritual, supernatural, and anything paranormal.

With the ongoing help of and for the benefit of numerous individuals and various groups, EastGhost exists to network, share information, and maintain cohesiveness in the paranormal community that we all love. Broadly, we're all involved in the pursuit of truth, happiness and to find enjoyment, information and answers.

Members, independently or in whatever fluid alliances they wish, often share their experiences, expertise and investigative results, many of which are highly focused and ongoing. With thousands of registered members, updates and improvements are frequent; there's always something new.

We're building an organized and maintained "haunts database". We offer an unique melding of forums, pictures and file uploads that's powerful, flexible and purpose-built to make finding and sharing easy and fast. We also help friends keep in touch, individuals find groups and vice-versa, and investigators present their findings. Emailed to all members, activity, events and announcements reach many people quickly. If your group needs more members or is announcing an event, or if you're an individual seeking nearby groups, events or to be involved with investigations, we offer amplification and a good venue for finding and meeting your goals.

Membership is free, and all that's really expected is reasonable, civil participation. Haunts Database

Roney's Point Tuberculosis Center

BRIEF: TB was certainly popular in the past; maybe it will come around again.

SUMMARY: Roney's Point is somewhat of a gathering place for college and high school students. The TB center was also used as a state insane asylum. The structure was being used up until around 1976, when half of the center burned down. People have reported strange occurrences inside the building.

Morrill Hall

BRIEF: Lingering remnants of a fire

SUMMARY: Morrill Hall is the oldest building on campus. You know it's seen its share of activity. It is widely thought to be haunted. The building was used for medical training more than 80 years ago. UMCP kept cadavers for dissection in the basement [see Frank the gravedigger].

Columbia Hospital for Women (site of)

BRIEF: Serving several needs over its long history

SUMMARY: Columbia Hospital for Women, which closed in May 2002, was one of the oldest hospitals in Washington, DC and had occupied this site since 1870. Shortly after the Civil War, the Secretary of War E. N. Stanton authorized funds to establish a 50-bed hospital, stipulating that 20 of these beds be reserved for the wives and widows of U.S. soldiers. This was in response to a desperate need for a health-care facility for women who were arriving in the city in search of missing relatives.

BRIEF: The area itself was regarded as evil

SUMMARY: The Area now known as Black Hill Regional Park in Montgomery County, provides picnic areas, volleyball courts, a fitness course, nature trails and a spectacular view of Little Seneca Lake. This area was notorious prior to its settlement by Europeans in the 1600's. The story carries about how some native tribal Indians would not enter the area because they believed it was evil.
