What is East Ghost?

EastGhost is a social nexus for paranormal enthusiasts, researchers and the curious that exists to empower, showcase and connect individuals, groups and information. Open, inclusive and climate-controlled, it offers a positive and constructive atmosphere that's enjoyable and maximally conducive to sharing and learning. One purpose is the collection, discussion and presentation of knowledge and findings: scientific, spiritual, supernatural, and anything paranormal.

With the ongoing help of and for the benefit of numerous individuals and various groups, EastGhost exists to network, share information, and maintain cohesiveness in the paranormal community that we all love. Broadly, we're all involved in the pursuit of truth, happiness and to find enjoyment, information and answers.

Members, independently or in whatever fluid alliances they wish, often share their experiences, expertise and investigative results, many of which are highly focused and ongoing. With thousands of registered members, updates and improvements are frequent; there's always something new.

We're building an organized and maintained "haunts database". We offer an unique melding of forums, pictures and file uploads that's powerful, flexible and purpose-built to make finding and sharing easy and fast. We also help friends keep in touch, individuals find groups and vice-versa, and investigators present their findings. Emailed to all members, activity, events and announcements reach many people quickly. If your group needs more members or is announcing an event, or if you're an individual seeking nearby groups, events or to be involved with investigations, we offer amplification and a good venue for finding and meeting your goals.

Membership is free, and all that's really expected is reasonable, civil participation. Members "get it" and get along while dicovering historical information, sharing personal experiences, discussing theories and opinions, collectively researching facts, and increasing enlightened understanding. Haunts Database

Spry Cemetery at Dry Branch Hollow

BRIEF: "He was in a bind, because he was way behind; he was willing to make a deal."

SUMMARY: A woman by the name of Dixie V. Counts is buried in this cemetery beside her still-born infant. The baby's name was Charlie, and he died along with his mother during labor. On a full moon, when the light strikes their death date carvings just right, it is said that Dixie can be seen rocking her baby. Both of them appear in white and seem to be crying.

Patty Cannon House

BRIEF: Her evil induced a town to change its name.

SUMMARY: Just across the state line from Delaware, reads a sign along Route 392: Patty Cannon's House at Johnson's Crossroads where the noted kidnapping group had their headquarters as described in George Townsend's novel, "The Entailed Hat." The house borders on Caroline and Dorchester Counties and the state of Delaware. Patty began her life of crime in the early 1800's when she became the leader of a gang that was organized to kidnap free blacks . They would then sell the slaves into the black slavery market. She was a very large woman who had immense strength. She was ruthless and no one was brave enough to challenge her.

Magruder's Honesty

BRIEF: A bear can do serious damage.

SUMMARY: An historic, small stone house at the corner of Seven Locks Rd. and River Rd. (between I-495 and the Cabin John Firehouse) is all that now remains of what was once a very large expanse of land known as "Magruder's Honesty." (A.K.A. Beall's and Magruder's Honesty.) Maryland State land records show various owners of various subdivisions of the land, beginning before 1783. There is at least one ghost legend attributed to the land, but, as the house has been sealed up (with a plaque out front) for some years, it has not been recently verified.

Snarly Yowl

Boonsboro, Washington County, Maryland
AKA: Wizard Zittle of Boonsboro

BRIEF: "This ain't no normal kinda dog."

SUMMARY: There is a ghostly dog know as the Snarly Yowl that haunt the main road in Boonsboro. The ghostly dog is know to challenge travelers as they travel their way in and out of town. The ghostly dog appears out of thin air and then it grows larger and larger.

Blumehaven Inn

BRIEF: A father and son team of haunting

SUMMARY: The Blumehaven Inn was once home to a Dr. M. Malcolm and his son. Both men died in the house. The father died in 1919 of esophageal cancer; the son died in 1932 of tuberculosis.

English Consul House

Lansdowne, Baltimore County, Maryland
AKA: Baltimore Lansdowne

BRIEF: A yearly whipping...

SUMMARY: Lansdowne is a section of Baltimore. Lansdowne was once called the English Consul. Built in the 1700's, the old Mansion house sits atop a hill. William Dawson was the first English Consul of Maryland. He owned the mansion called the Consul House.
