What is East Ghost?
EastGhost is a social nexus for paranormal enthusiasts, researchers and the curious that exists to empower, showcase and connect individuals, groups and information. Open, inclusive and climate-controlled, it offers a positive and constructive atmosphere that's enjoyable and maximally conducive to sharing and learning. One purpose is the collection, discussion and presentation of knowledge and findings: scientific, spiritual, supernatural, and anything paranormal.
With the ongoing help of and for the benefit of numerous individuals and various groups, EastGhost exists to network, share information, and maintain cohesiveness in the paranormal community that we all love. Broadly, we're all involved in the pursuit of truth, happiness and to find enjoyment, information and answers.
Members, independently or in whatever fluid alliances they wish, often share their experiences, expertise and investigative results, many of which are highly focused and ongoing. With thousands of registered members, updates and improvements are frequent; there's always something new.
We're building an organized and maintained "haunts database". We offer an unique melding of forums, pictures and file uploads that's powerful, flexible and purpose-built to make finding and sharing easy and fast. We also help friends keep in touch, individuals find groups and vice-versa, and investigators present their findings. Emailed to all members, activity, events and announcements reach many people quickly. If your group needs more members or is announcing an event, or if you're an individual seeking nearby groups, events or to be involved with investigations, we offer amplification and a good venue for finding and meeting your goals.
Membership is free, and all that's really expected is reasonable, civil participation. Haunts Database
BRIEF: A housekeeping ghost. SUMMARY: The Weaver-Fox House was built in 1874-75. The Clayton family moved into the Weaver-Fox house and soon discovered that they were not alone. After only a few weeks, they decided to take a trip. In preparation, they went through the house locking windows and closing all the doors to the rooms. When the couple returned home they were surprised to find all the doors open in every room. They found a pile of unused towels laying on their bed. They could not figure it out and decided to just let the matter go. BRIEF: Along this road (miles 8-12), to the left is Birch Hill. SUMMARY: Along this road (miles 8-12), to the left is Birch Hill. Numerous people have reportedly seen "glowing balls" in the sky which cast out streaks of bright light. This has only been seen during the winter months after 7pm. BRIEF: This one sticks around SUMMARY: The third floor of this Inn is haunted by an unknown ghost which does not want to depart. BRIEF: A strange dog-like creature that is not man's best friend. SUMMARY: Tales about this strange dog-like creature date back a century. Hundreds of people have seen this strange creature. Horses are very afraid of this strange animal and they will throw their rider off trying to escape from the creature. The strange creature has been seen on the Alternate Route 40. The creature will appear in the road and scare travelers. The creature always disappears before astonished travelers. Some people believe the creature is the Big Black Dog and others think it the Snarly Yow and still others believe that it is an entirely different creature. The creature has frightened traveler on the National Pike. People describe the creature as having very large paws, sharp teeth, and an ugly red mouth. This creature has been seen South Mountain, located east of Hagerstown. The creature has also been seen at Turner's Gap which was the site of the Midnight Battle in 1862. BRIEF: An old hotel filled with hauntings and mysteries is cast to the whims of history SUMMARY: One of many hauntings amongst illustrious history, legend holds that while two young male employees were fraternizing with women in the basement laundry room, a manager came around propelling the first man to dash out of sight into a waiting elevator. The second tried to follow but was somehow caught by the doors. Industrial types and early elevators lack the door sensors with which most people these days are familiar. The second man was crushed, by two unstoppable movements, and perished badly. The elevator area in the basement laundry is said to be haunted by this unlucky man's ghost: a faint apparition has reportedly been spotted, sometimes moving briskly toward the elevator. BRIEF: Ghosts of nuns long passed make their presence known SUMMARY: It's said that ghosts of nuns long since passed made their presence known: cold spots, self-locking doors, and nearly constant "uneasy feelings of being watched". BRIEF: This old country inn practically backs to an old graveyard. SUMMARY: Staub's old country inn (closed since 2002) at the corner of Rt. 28 (Darnestown Rd.) and Rt. 109 (Beallsville Rd.)
