SUMMARY: Carter Hall Mansion (aka "Goodwood") is located to the south side of Claggett Landing Road. It's about a mile down on the left but isn't visible from the road. Mansion is surrounded by Carter Farm, apparently working. Appears to be occupied.

SUMMARY: This golf course is haunted by the spirit of an angry Judge. He has been seen walking among the nearby tombstones and on the Green.

SUMMARY: The building is over one hundred years old. You can find strange cold spots in the building. The building became very active with ghostly activity during its renovation. Workers would find their tools disappearing and showing up in strange places. They would put in a window and would find it broken a few minutes later while they were still working -- something was cracking the glass.

They were eager to earn the sum of $1.25 per day. John Henry was one of the workers. The tunnel is known to be haunted by his ghost. The tunnel is where he died finishing the construction of the tunnel. He ghostly presence has been seen walking in the tunnel.

SUMMARY: Todd's House is known as Todd's Inheritance. Thomas Todd settled there in 1664 with his wife and children from Gloucester County, Virginia. "There" was located between the tip of Edgemere's Miller's Island and the peninsula where Fort Howard sits. For over three centuries the descendants of the Todd family have lived in the home. That's as much prolonged, concentrated history as anyone in this country, except for of course the Indians.

SUMMARY: The castle was built by wealthy Maryland businessman Samuel Taylor Suit for his young bride, Rosa, in 1885. Rosa spent the family silver on throwing lavish parties and died in poverty. It is thought her spirit still lurks in the castle, a faded shell of its former grandeur. …

SUMMARY: Many areas of the United States experienced a "gold rush," but most Marylanders do not know that Maryland had its own, including attendant tragedies. Montgomery County was known for gold mining in the 19th Century. A 100-foot shaft was dug near the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and Falls Road around 1867. This mine became the largest and most successful mine in the county. It operated under several different names over 73 years. Over 200-foot shafts with interconnecting tunnels were uncovered between 1900 and 1917.

SUMMARY: This defunct old hotel, it's said, "has at least nine spirits currently in residence". The team includes a small child, three grown males and five grown females which usually do not cause problems unless provoked.

SUMMARY: This was one of the last remaining iron furnaces in the eastern United States. Legend has it that an old settler, who had gambled away all of his money, came home one night and could not feed his dogs. He took them off on a wild chase in which he led them to the iron furnace. He then burned them alive.
