SUMMARY: The dorms here are haunted by a ghost of young man who hung himself. The dorm is original, dating from the 1890's. The ghost can reportedly be heard walking down hallways. Reports include moving objects: items placed standing upright in the center of rooms.

SUMMARY: This Inn is haunted by a ghostly woman which has been seen in the Inn on a number of occasions. She has been most often seen looking out a window, partially hidden by a curtain.

SUMMARY: Fort Washington was an Army fort that overlooked the Potomac River. It was built between 1808 and 1809 as a defense to protect the coastline from the British.

It is said that many of those prisoners were mistreated and even murdered by the guards. Their bodies were buried on the plot, unmarked; later, the school was built over those graves.

SUMMARY: Huge. Deep. Still. Not a smart place to fall into. Numerous dilapidated structures on the quiet grounds form an abandoned, sort of business-town. Now privately owned and rotting away into nothingness, this dying place echoes with the clamor and deeds of a bygone era.

SUMMARY: George Dormitory is an old recovery dorm for soldiers who went to the school to recover.

SUMMARY: Charles Thomas Sims was a soldier and a peddler, and he was returning to the Port Tobacco Tavern with his dog when he was killed. He was killed on a very large rock. Henry Hanos of Port Tobacco murdered Sims (and his dog) to get Sims' gold and deed to an estate.

SUMMARY: The Vincent family moved into a house that was built in 1804. They were told by the local townsfolk that the house that they were moving into was haunted. The townsfolk told them the ghost was Myers Englar.

SUMMARY: The Landon House was built in 1745. The house served as the headquarters for J.E.B Stuart during the Civil War. Stuart troops had a dog as their troop mascot. After the Antietam battle the house was used as a hospital for the Union and Confederate soldiers. Soldiers often took dogs to battle with them. Many soldiers were wounded and killed in the massive battle at Antietam. One of the dogs was wounded in battle and he was taken to the Landon House after the battle. The dog died. The ghostly dog has been seen in the house. Some Civil war re-actors came to visit the house and photographed the ghostly dog and its keeper looking out of the window.

SUMMARY: This alternative school was used as an home for wayward boys in the 1960's. In the stone hallway of the lower school, there have been partial-apparition sightings of a pair of legs and a man wearing a pink shirt and khakis.

SUMMARY: Some cool old stuff there, like looking into a life that someone left behind. Very interestig, maybe even moreso if you're more adventurous than I (or really really skinny) and brave enough to make the trip upstairs.
