SUMMARY: It is said that in the 1800's tragedy struck when a young newlywed couple was riding their horse-drawn buggy through the hollow on their way home after the wedding. A small animal is said to have darted out of the woods, spooking the horses and causing the buggy to roll off the road and into the creek. The bride died from a broken neck and the groom was pinned under a horse (which had become lame) and slowly died next to his new bride. It is said by many locals that on dark nights a fog creeps up onto the road (uh, more of a dirt lane) and a horse-drawn buggy fast approaching is audible; soon enough there is a crash, a scream, and then all is silent and the fog vanishes.

SUMMARY: The president’s house at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, a perfect example of Georgian architecture, in the classic Queen Anne style was designed by Henry Clay Jr. The building was started in July 1732 (the year George Washington was born, he would later be a guest at the house) and has served as the residence of all 24 of William and Mary presidents since the college’s first president, James Blair in October of 1733. Many famous persons have graced it’s halls, in addition to Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, Patrick Henry, James Madison, John Tyler, Warren Harding through Dwight Eisenhower have been guest here. It was even used by Lord Cornwallis as a temporary headquarters for the British in 1781. It was also used as a hospital for injured French soldiers in that same year after the British vacated the house. In December 1781 a fire damaged much of the building but it was restored with funding from the King of France.

SUMMARY: The Loews Annapolis Hotel sits on an area that served, back in 1910, as the Washington/Baltimore & Annapolis Power Sub-Station. This facility provided electric power for the city of Annapolis and also the nearby railroad. Within twenty years, the land and main building was purchased by the Annapolis Dairy, which used it until 1959. The dairy reportedly had interesting "occurrences."
