The fort is farther down the road and off to the right, a reconstruction of the original. Along the road to fort are two fields on each side of the road. On the right side of the road are telephone poles. Sit at the 3rd pole after dark and look straight ahead; there a guard of the fort was killed, and he still patrols to this day. The guard is a black shadow. Also sometimes audible is a young child's laughter and a dog barking. The barking dog is often accompanied by "a white ball of fog" that appears from nowhere.

SUMMARY: The Landon House was built in 1745. The house served as the headquarters for J.E.B Stuart during the Civil War. Stuart troops had a dog as their troop mascot. After the Antietam battle the house was used as a hospital for the Union and Confederate soldiers. Soldiers often took dogs to battle with them. Many soldiers were wounded and killed in the massive battle at Antietam. One of the dogs was wounded in battle and he was taken to the Landon House after the battle. The dog died. The ghostly dog has been seen in the house. Some Civil war re-actors came to visit the house and photographed the ghostly dog and its keeper looking out of the window.
