Haunts Database
BRIEF: A quaker gathering place, a boys school, and an inn. SUMMARY: The Milton Inn was built in 1740, making it over 250 years old. It is located in Spark in Northern Baltimore County.
The house served s a coachstop for Quakers who settled in this area. The Quakers often gathered at the New Gunpowder Meeting House located only a few miles from the Inn.
Sparks was once called Priceville, named after the Quaker John Price. There are members of the Price family still living in the area. BRIEF: Apparitions mark the passing of prominent Washingtonians SUMMARY: The word on the street is that when a prominent Washingtonian passes away a ghostly group of five mourners is often seen entering the church, seating themselves in the first row of pews. BRIEF: Semi-abandoned church and cemetery supposedly haunted by a long-dead witch. SUMMARY: On top of one of the highest hills in the state sits an old church with not a single cross. Inside the church are two abandoned pianos, strange paintings, and an attendance chart on the wall with changed with the amount of people in your group. In the neighboring cemetery is a gravestone with a descending staircase, the words "ETERNAL LIFE", a rosebud that stays green 12 months out of the year, and the demonic face of the Highland Witch embedded onto the granite. The week of halloween the gravestone tends to be rotated around to the opposite direction, and this is when the weird things begin to happen. Some friends of mine visited during Halloween 2005, and were greeted with a white presence in the graveyard, and upon their exit, encountered a fire which hadn't been buring on their way into the church. A week later I went with them to the church, only to find the word DIE written in blood on the church stoop. We said we wouldn't ever go back, but within a week we were. It's truly one of West Virginia's Urban Legends. BRIEF: The stairs and house where the infamous movie was filmed SUMMARY: The Exorcist was filmed using these stairs and this adjacent residence. BRIEF: Cemetery in downtown Baltimore BRIEF: The taller they are, the further they fall. SUMMARY: Many men jumped to their deaths. It is said that these poor souls continue to haunt the hotel. The hotel has rooms that strange occurences to the point that several rooms are now closed to the public. BRIEF: An old house, an older haunting. SUMMARY: The Tipuhato House and estate is located in Cascade, Maryland. This home was owned by the daughter of a very wealthy banker around the turn of the century. The woman loved to entertain and hold parties and she also enjoyed the horse races. The woman loved this home and after she died she just stayed on at the house. A medical doctor bought the house in 1985 and she moved in.
Strange things started to happen after she moved. Footsteps were heard when no one was there. Objects got moved around. She had the feeling that she was being watched. The doctor investigated the history of the house and she learned that the owner had died in the bedroom. This is a room that she heard someone pacing in. BRIEF: Built sometime around 1850 as an hydropathic retreat for the medicinal qualities of pure mountain springs. SUMMARY: Built sometime around 1850 as an hydropathic retreat for the medicinal qualities of pure mountain springs. It later became the Ephrata Hospital. The Ephrata Hospital closed after a new hospital was built in 1949. BRIEF: First headquarters of American Red Cross SUMMARY: Clara Barton (1821-1912) lived the last 15 years of her life in this large house, first built to store the supplies needed for her relief work in disasters. Constructed in 1891, it was modeled after the Johnstown Flood Relief Shelter in Pennsylvania and served as the first headquarters of the American Red Cross.
