"Death is the great Teacher, stern, cold, inexorable, irresistible; whom the collected might of the world cannot stay or ward off. The breath, that parting from the lips of King or beggar, scarcely stirs the hushed air, cannot be bought, or brought back for a moment, with the wealth of Empires. What a lesson is this, teaching our frailty and feebleness, and an Infinite Power beyond us! It is a fearful lesson, that never becomes familiar. It walks through the earth in dread mystery, and lays it hands upon all. It is a universal lesson, that is read everywhere and by all men. Its message comes every year and every day. The past years are crowded with its sad and solemn mementoes; and death's finger traces its handwriting upon the walls of every human habitation." --Albert Pike, Morals and Dogma

BRIEF: The Courthouse Square office building was built on the site of the old county jail, which was used from the early 1900's until the 1960's. SUMMARY: The Courthouse Square office building was built on the site of the old county jail, which was used from the early 1900's until the 1960's. In the early 1900's the building was the location of several executions by hanging. Several hauntings seemingly accompany this fact. BRIEF: An unsual meat-locker SUMMARY: The house is listed on the National Register of historic sites. The house is located on a tract of land once called Steven's Adventure. That land had been granted to Francis Stevens in 1694.
The Cray House was built in 1809 and sold at public auction in 1914. BRIEF: Evil use long ago leaves an urban legend and scars of curiousity SUMMARY: Devil Tree is located on Long Road. Long Road is, amusingly, a rather short road. A wooded field opens up at its southern end. At the end of the field stands a large, freakish tree with a branch that extends parallel to the ground. This is the so-called "Devil's Tree." BRIEF: Near Allentown Prison there is a set of bunkers that was used for the storage of artillery during various wars of the 20th century. SUMMARY: Near Allentown Prison there is a set of bunkers that was used for the storage of artillery during various wars of the 20th century. BRIEF: A young boy died in this old farmhouse SUMMARY: Sometime in the early 1900's, a young boy died in this mid 18th century farmhouse.
The lights and applicance switch on by themselves. One night the toy train in the sunroom began to go around the track all by itself. BRIEF: An urban legend and an Indian legend and a Witches legend SUMMARY: Three seperate legends tell stories about this road and its surrounding, dating back to Indian lore, witchcraft, and a missing person.
