What is East Ghost?
EastGhost is a social nexus for paranormal enthusiasts, researchers and the curious that exists to empower, showcase and connect individuals, groups and information. Open, inclusive and climate-controlled, it offers a positive and constructive atmosphere that's enjoyable and maximally conducive to sharing and learning. One purpose is the collection, discussion and presentation of knowledge and findings: scientific, spiritual, supernatural, and anything paranormal.
With the ongoing help of and for the benefit of numerous individuals and various groups, EastGhost exists to network, share information, and maintain cohesiveness in the paranormal community that we all love. Broadly, we're all involved in the pursuit of truth, happiness and to find enjoyment, information and answers.
Members, independently or in whatever fluid alliances they wish, often share their experiences, expertise and investigative results, many of which are highly focused and ongoing. With thousands of registered members, updates and improvements are frequent; there's always something new.
We're building an organized and maintained "haunts database". We offer an unique melding of forums, pictures and file uploads that's powerful, flexible and purpose-built to make finding and sharing easy and fast. We also help friends keep in touch, individuals find groups and vice-versa, and investigators present their findings. Emailed to all members, activity, events and announcements reach many people quickly. If your group needs more members or is announcing an event, or if you're an individual seeking nearby groups, events or to be involved with investigations, we offer amplification and a good venue for finding and meeting your goals.
Membership is free, and all that's really expected is reasonable, civil participation. BRIEF: Mrs. Madison was quite cross with Shirley. SUMMARY: This hotel was once called the Shirley Hotel. It was named after the mistress of owner Sir Charles Madison. A bloody fued has apparently left an indellible mark. BRIEF: Many burned alive in the steel train cars; more died later. SUMMARY: At 5:45pm, during the height of rush hour on a cold February 17 in 1996, an Amtrak passenger train bound for Chicago crashed head-on into a MARC local commuter train during a powerful snowstorm. 24 people were severely injured in addition to 12 people who variously died upon impact, burned to death, or suffered heart attack or cold shock immediately after the accident. BRIEF: Indian legend and lore. SUMMARY: The Catonsville area was first settled by Indians in the primordial time of this continent. Catonsville was not established as a permanent village until 1200 AD. The natives who lived here had established a tribal government system. BRIEF: Long and colorful history SUMMARY: This house was designed by William Thornton (the architect of the Capitol and Tudor Place) and was built in 1798. It is currently a museum.
The Octagon is the oldest museum in the United States devoted to architecture and design, operated by the American Architectural Foundation. This building was designed by Dr. William Thornton for Col. John Tayloe III, and was constructed between 1799 and 1801. BRIEF: "...a retirement home for old and dying priests." SUMMARY: Some local residents in and around Beltsville, Maryland have reported seeing mysterious spirits of cloaked monks in and around an old mansion. That mansion, the Ammen Institute, was owned by a Catholic organization from about 1900. It reportedly "looks like a place that should be haunted." BRIEF: The positively massive Masonic structure houses ghosts and plenty more SUMMARY: This huge, gothic edifice was built in 1922 for the Masons, with the cornerstone being set using the same trowel that George Washington used to set the cornerstone of the United States Capitol in Washington D.C. Its 14 floors and 1,037 rooms house 50 masonic organizations, and, according to some, a fair amount of paranormal activity.
