What is East Ghost?
EastGhost is a social nexus for paranormal enthusiasts, researchers and the curious that exists to empower, showcase and connect individuals, groups and information. Open, inclusive and climate-controlled, it offers a positive and constructive atmosphere that's enjoyable and maximally conducive to sharing and learning. One purpose is the collection, discussion and presentation of knowledge and findings: scientific, spiritual, supernatural, and anything paranormal.
With the ongoing help of and for the benefit of numerous individuals and various groups, EastGhost exists to network, share information, and maintain cohesiveness in the paranormal community that we all love. Broadly, we're all involved in the pursuit of truth, happiness and to find enjoyment, information and answers.
Members, independently or in whatever fluid alliances they wish, often share their experiences, expertise and investigative results, many of which are highly focused and ongoing. With thousands of registered members, updates and improvements are frequent; there's always something new.
We're building an organized and maintained "haunts database". We offer an unique melding of forums, pictures and file uploads that's powerful, flexible and purpose-built to make finding and sharing easy and fast. We also help friends keep in touch, individuals find groups and vice-versa, and investigators present their findings. Emailed to all members, activity, events and announcements reach many people quickly. BRIEF: Tomahawk Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Tomahawk WV SUMMARY: Tomahawk Cemetery is behing Tomahawk Presbyterian church on Presbyterian Church Road in Berkeley County, close to Hegesville WV BRIEF: A bear can do serious damage. SUMMARY: An historic, small stone house at the corner of Seven Locks Rd. and River Rd. (between I-495 and the Cabin John Firehouse) is all that now remains of what was once a very large expanse of land known as "Magruder's Honesty." (A.K.A. Beall's and Magruder's Honesty.) Maryland State land records show various owners of various subdivisions of the land, beginning before 1783. There is at least one ghost legend attributed to the land, but, as the house has been sealed up (with a plaque out front) for some years, it has not been recently verified. BRIEF: Neat history. SUMMARY: The Hessian Barracks was built in 1777 at this location by Abraham Faw. The building was used to imprison troops who were stationed in Frederick during the Revolutionary War. It was used as a prison for the Hessian soldiers captured at the battles of Bennington, Saratoga, and Yorktown. It also housed mercenaries of England who were captured in Bennington and Saratoga. The Prisoners were released in 1783 and in 1803. SUMMARY: A woman in silk and a moonshiner haunt this building. BRIEF: Slaves locked in a room and a murder. SUMMARY: The school was once a Hospital during the Civil War. Hannah was a nurse who worked at the hospital. One day the slaves were locked in a room and someone killed Hannah. Her ghostly apparition has been seen in the school. The sound of moaning has been heard. The sound of disembodied footsteps walking up and down the halls has been heard many times. BRIEF: Many soldiers from Antietam are buried here. SUMMARY: The graves of Francis Scott Key; Barbara Fritchie, about whom the Whittier's Poem was written; Thomas Johnson, the first Maryland Governor; as well as over eight hundred Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the battles at Antietam and Monocacy are located here. SUMMARY: This home was built in 1718 and has been known for its lovely box gardens. The house, however, is known for more than the lovely gardens. Visitors often hear strange voices and works in the garden when no one is there. No one can determine where the voices are coming from, and people do not venture into the garden after dark. Another stretch of land at Fairview that slopes down the lawn and meets the shore at Miles river had a headless man ghost that haunts the area. The ghost is believed to be a British sympathizer that still stands watch on the beach to guide the British ships into the harbor. On another road not far from the beach is another ghost that rides his horse madly along the winding road. This ghost has startled quite a few visitors.
