SUMMARY: The woods near the Pike Creek is haunted. When people are driving through the wood, they will hear screams and see ghostly apparitions run in front of their car. There have been many accidents on the road. The area is also apparently where someone abandoned a baby, and the sound of crying is still heard.

SUMMARY: Eden Mill, dating from 1805, has over 200 years of history captured inside its four stories. It is a remarkable location. The interior --absolutely packed with authentic, original machinery, equipment and literally thousands of gizmos-- is maintained as a living museum by Harford County and is set up with working exhibits and an overwhelming amount of information, including original pictures, very detailed descriptions, and period gear. There's also an entire "nature center" with all sorts of flora and fauna.

SUMMARY: This school closed in 1991. It is said to be haunted by a janitor who was killed by a board which fell from some height in a lower level of the school.

SUMMARY: There is a barn in the Grist Mill park where a stable boy worked. The stable boy had fallen in love with the land owner's daughter, but the father reportedly soon killed the boy for being with his daughter. The sound of crying has been reported in this vicinity.

SUMMARY: Students have seen a ghostly old woman dressed in old-fashioned clothing standing in a window of McDaniel Hall. The apparition is wearing a flapper dress, her hair is cut in a short bobbed haircut.

SUMMARY: There is a strange creature know as Goatman which has haunted the outer limits of Prince Georges County for the past several decades. This creature has haunted lonely back country roads and areas filled with dark forest. The creature haunts the area of Fletchertown Road in old Bowie, Lottsford Road in Mitchellville, Tucker Road in Clinton.

SUMMARY: This is a very old building that people say is haunted. Some say that nighttime visits to this place can reveal strange things including "a midnight steam," ghostly voices and screams.

SUMMARY: This school is now abandoned. A few years back reports included "red eyes seen" in the cafeteria, and a face reflected in the girls' bathroom.

SUMMARY: The Main Street Bridge is allegedly haunted by two different ghosts.

SUMMARY: The Thornton family was among the early 18th century settlers on the falls of the Rappahannock River. They named their home, plainly enough, "The Falls." The Thorntons soon enough built another house, more elegant, and named it "Fall Hill." That estate has been passed down to the descendants of the Thornton family and is known to be haunted by ghostly apparitions seen walking throughout the house and on the grounds.

SUMMARY: The Inn is haunted by the daughter of the town founder. The sounds of footsteps, and doors opening and closing by themselves take place in the Inn. The Inn was so phantasmagorically active one evening that a planned prom was canceled.

SUMMARY: Chatham mansion was built in 1771 by William Fitzhugh. He named it after one of his classmates, Sir William Pitt, who was the Earl of Chatham. During the Civil War the mansion was used as Union headquarters. Walt Whitman and Clara Barton nursed the Union wounded in the house. Notables from our early history visited the house, including George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and the Marquis de Lafayette.

SUMMARY: Clopper Mill, a grist and saw mill, originally built in the late 18th century, the was torn down and rebuilt by Zachariah Maccubbin sometime after 1784. The estate was purchased in 1812 by Frances Clopper, who built a 24-room mansion where the current park office is located. The location of the old mill is claimed to be haunted.

SUMMARY: The beach area is said to be haunted by three ghosts. People have seen ghostly spirits in the wildlife reserve and on the beach. One of the ghosts is of a slave girl, most often seen walking along the wooded paths. The slave has been seen watching over her master's grave.

SUMMARY: Ghosts can be seen at night walking around the lake. One is very common. She is called the night walker. She walks around the lake and sits on a bench. It looks like she is waiting for someone to come and see her.

SUMMARY: The Inn was built by John Addy of Pittsburgh in 1904. This Inn is haunted and a number of rooms are known to have ghostly events happen inside them. A copper bath tub in Room Number 1 sometimes shakes violently by itself. Rooms 1, 6 and 11 are haunted by unknown spirits.

SUMMARY: The Playhouse was used a dance hall and playhouse until its closing in 1999. The building is haunted by at least nine ghosts. One of the ghosts is the former general in charge of Pee Patch Island, less than a mile away by water. The building is also haunted by a malicious demon, evidenced by an omnipresent feeling of evil and dread in two of the upstairs rooms.
