BRIEF: Her evil induced a town to change its name. SUMMARY: Just across the state line from Delaware, reads a sign along Route 392: Patty Cannon's House at Johnson's Crossroads where the noted kidnapping group had their headquarters as described in George Townsend's novel, "The Entailed Hat." The house borders on Caroline and Dorchester Counties and the state of Delaware.
Patty began her life of crime in the early 1800's when she became the leader of a gang that was organized to kidnap free blacks . They would then sell the slaves into the black slavery market. She was a very large woman who had immense strength. She was ruthless and no one was brave enough to challenge her. BRIEF: The indefatigable Moses SUMMARY: This is one remarkable woman who saved herself and then went on to recover most of her family from the clutches of slavery. In the process, she helped numerous other slaves to become free, all at great personal danger. BRIEF: Unkown cause of activity on third floor. SUMMARY: Impossible odors, whispering and a feeling of being watched sometimes indicate there's possibly a bit more going on here that we can't readily discern. BRIEF: An old lady's apparition who attends funerals. SUMMARY: There is a graveyard in Emmitsburg at St. Josephs cemetery there is a ghostly woman who attends all the funerals there.
