BRIEF: Involved with the Lincoln assassination

SUMMARY: The house is an 18th century farmhouse. The house was remodeled in 1800. The house was the home of Colonel Samuel Cox. He was a southern sympathizer who helped the Confederates with their cause. On April 14, 1865 Samuel Cox, he hid Booth and his cohort, David Herold, on his Rich Hill farm. He fed and sheltered John Wilkes Booth and David E. Herold. Cox was arranging for their safe and secret passage to Virginia.

SUMMARY: Phillip Voss of Annapolis launched his kayak off the east shore of Chincoteague Bay. It was December 5, 1992, and he planned to cross the Chesapeake Bay in his red kayak. The wind was blowing gusts that reached up to 35mph. Beach walkers found his swamped kayak on December 8. His body was found on December 9.

SUMMARY: One hundred years ago Betsy Shifler was murdered. She was murdered in the middle of the night for thousands of dollars that she hid in her home. The murderer set her house on fire to cover the crime scene. In 1901 the local town's papers ran this story for months. People came from miles to sift through the ashes looking for lost treasures and for Betsy's bones. No bones or body were ever found. No one was ever charged with murder. People say that Betsy is still haunting the area looking for her lost treasures and she is angry that her murderer was never caught.
