BRIEF: A very old area leaves aging traces SUMMARY: Elkridge is filled with Maryland history. Homes more than 100 years old line old Washington Blvd. There are also old homes located on Montgomery and Lawyers Hill. Many of these homes were built during the 1700's. Located along the Patapsco River, Elkridge is the oldest settlement in Howard county. BRIEF: An old theater still sings SUMMARY: The theater had been closed for many years. It was later bought (1990's) and turned into a childrens' theater. BRIEF: Phantom dog story SUMMARY: Maryland has a number of phantom dogs stories. Singleton Burgee was a slave owner. All of his slaves despised him. On his deathbed, a man wearing a black cape rode up on a black horse and came to visit Singleton. The strange man stood over Singleton's death bed. The strange man queried, "Are you ready, Singleton Burgee?" and then the man was gone. |
