BRIEF: The house of an important legislator. SUMMARY: William Paca's Mansion was built between 1763 and 1765. Though Mr. Paca died in 1799, some say his mansion is haunted by his ghostly apparition which often stands at the top of the main staircase. BRIEF: This is Ben Franklin's cousin's house. SUMMARY: This is Ben Franklin's cousin's house. One story holds that Ben had tested his kite here a few times.
Sightings have included Ben flying his kite. Also in the woods is a trench from a battle in which battle noises have reportedly been heard late at night. BRIEF: A watchful ghost. SUMMARY: There is a house in Beverly that is thought to be haunted by Susannah Upshur Dennis. She was the wife of the owner of the house. Her ghostly spirit still roams through the house at night, it is said, apparently checking that the place is in order. Presumably, she always liked a neat and clean house, and she ensures that the new owners keep it up to standards. BRIEF: Frantic, visual "echoes" of a past tragedy SUMMARY: A following train collides with an accidentally separated caboose, despite the signalman's frantic lantern waving. Phantom lights began soon after the accident and have been seen fairly regularly since. |
