BRIEF: Old Tavern haunted by more than spirits from a bottle SUMMARY: From the late 1700s the Old Talbot Tavern has been a popular watering hole and inn for weary travelers. An old stagecoach stop during the western movement of American history, many well known persons graced its weathered floorboards, such as; General Clark, Daniel Boone, French monarch Louis Phillipe, and even a young boy by the name of Abraham Lincoln. Damaged by a fire in 1998, and reopened in 1999, during the repairs hidden tunnels and staircases were discovered. Spirits of those who once took shelter here are know to cause cold spots, move items, and produce unexplained noises in the night. BRIEF: Sleep Hag SUMMARY: This is the Park Hyatt Hotel in Philadelphia off of Broad and Walnut St. One time I was staying there for the weekend. One evening I was about ready to go to sleep when suddenly I felt an intense pressure on top of me; allowing me not to breathe or move. It lasted for about a minute and my girlfriend experienced the same thing. I have taken pictures of the room to find any orbs but didnt see any. I will post the pictures in a few. The hotel has that very gothic feel to it.. A lil creepy!!1 BRIEF: An island in the Ohio river, wrapped up in odd political history. SUMMARY: Margaret and Harman left Ireland and came to America because their families frowned on their relationship. Harman was Margaret's uncle, and the families felt their relationship was not appropriate. In fact, most cultures would find that relationship untenable.
However, they were in love and wanted to get married, casting aside all else. The couple crossed the Appalachians in 1796, looking for a place to build a home. In their travels they spotted Belpre Island which is now callled Blennerhassetts Island, possibly because the Blennerhassetts purchased the island, built a mansion, and nearly went down for treason with a sitting vice president. SUMMARY: As reported in the Baltimore American paper May, 1886: A minister that headed the parish for forty years on the Eastern Shore had a very strange occurrence happen to him twenty-two years ago. He was sixteen miles from town traveling between these two places. He was six miles from the home of a judge who had died six weeks earlier. The minister was traveling with a friend and close to sunset when he was approaching the home of the judge who had died. A carriage drawn by a lovely white horse passed very rapidly from behind and was soon out of sight. The minister said to his friend, did you notice that the carriage and horse did not make any noise when it passed. The two they went back to their conversation and they traveled a couple of more miles, when suddenly, the same horse and carriage passed them again. They could not see the driver of the carriage only his feet. The two men could not figure out how the carriage had caught up with them again, there were no crossroad areas to turn around. The horse looked like the horse that the deceased Judge owned. A half mile from the deceased judge's gate the carriage passed them again and it turned into the judge's gate. The minister quickened his horse's speed, and reached the gate only a few yards behind the silent carriage. When they looked up the lane there was no carriage and there were no wheel tracks in the dirt. |
