"We wish to pursue Truth no matter where it leads. But, to find Truth we need imagination and skepticism, both. We will not be afraid to speculate, but we will be careful to distinguish speculation from fact." --Carl Sagan

"Knowledge is more like a stream than a lake, and sharing it does not decrease it." --Zaitsev

"We foster an environment of constructive peer review, the philosophy being the more active members out there thinking, observing and collecting evidence, the more likely someone is to produce something substantial and the more we all collectively learn. Another way to look at it: Every family has an eccentric member or two; we're the place where all those folks can collectively hang out and feel at home."

Ghost of Carleton House

Huachuca City, Cochise County, Arizona
Part of: Fort Huachuca

BRIEF: An old fort's hospital is now reportedly haunted.

SUMMARY: Fort Huachuca, Arizona was built around 1877 and played an important role during the Indian wars of the 1870's and 1880's. It served as the advance headquarters and the supply base in the campaign against Geronimo. Later the Tenth Cavalry was headquartered here during General John Pershing's 1916 campaign into Mexico to find Pancho Villa. The fort was also home to four regiments of "Buffalo Soldiers", the African-American army units of the late 1800's and early 1900's. In 1954, the fort became the site for advanced testing of electronics and communications equipment and today is the Army Intelligence Center and School and the army's Information Systems Command. All C130 flight training for NATO takes place at the fort, as does some training for the Israeli air force and army.

"When you get old, the only things you remember are the things you dared to do and the things you didn't dare to do. All the daily stuff, the things you had to do, the things someone paid you to do, blur into the nothingness of 'unimportant to your soul', and when you look back on your life you only see the dreams you made happen and the dreams you were afraid to pursue." --P.J.
