Haunts Database
BRIEF: An old apothecary shop is haunted. SUMMARY: In 1792, a Edward Stabler, a young Quaker pharmacist, opened his business on Fairfax Street, which operated continuously until 1933. The Apothecary withstood the turmoil of the War of 1812, the 1821 Yellow Fever Epidemic, the Civil War, the Spanish-American War of 1898, and World War I.
It was the center of daily life in Alexandria, and among its famous customers were George Washington and Robert E. Lee. BRIEF: Do not fall into the water SUMMARY: Huge. Deep. Still. Not a smart place to fall into. Numerous dilapidated structures on the quiet grounds form an abandoned, sort of business-town. Now privately owned and rotting away into nothingness, this dying place echoes with the clamor and deeds of a bygone era. BRIEF: Over 100 yrs old the Fifth Regiment Armory has see many events & people, some have left traces behind SUMMARY: Over its 100 plus years, this building has seen many events, and has seen many Marylanders off to fight for freedom, some to loose their lives in that cause.
Many people have notice strange things occuring in the building; cold spots, unknown sounds, doors opening by themselves and shadowy figures that appear and disapear before your eyes. No one is completely sure of the source of these happenings, but many believe that some of the many people who have passed through the entranceway of the Fifth Regiment Armory may have never left. BRIEF: Ghost train SUMMARY: The Old Depot was built by the Cumberland and Pennsylvania Railroad Company in 1891 as a passenger and freight station. Two passenger trains ran daily from Cumberland to Piedmont via Frostburg ending service in 1942. In 1973, the abandoned building was renovated in 1989 as a restaurant and shops to accommodate the public and passengers of the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad steam passenger train; the restaurant is currently closed. The site also houses the Thrasher Museum, which boast a variety of rail carriages on display.
Some claim that sounds of trains long gone can still be hear in this area. |
