The Museum collects books, manuscripts, related documents and medical artifacts from the period 1861-1865, and maintains an active program of exhibits and educational activities.
A remarkable Civil War Museum which highlights the medical difficulties faced by the doctors during the Civil War. The museum feature photos of amputation in progress and photos of pile of amputated appendages piled up outside of the hospital area. BRIEF: A daughter and mother experience the supernatural. SUMMARY: One woman stayed at the Inn with her mother. Her mother was awakened by the sound of humming. She looked up and saw the ghostly silhouette of a woman with her hair in a bun walking at the foot of the bed. And then she disappeared. The next night she was awakened by the sound of a group of people marching outside, and they were talking and yelling back and forth. The Inn is located near Gettysburg College. BRIEF: An old hotel. Haunted. SUMMARY: The hotel is a 1895 Victorian hotel located in downtown Berlin. It is only seven miles from Ocean City. The hotel has 16 sleeping rooms. The room are furnished with antiques. BRIEF: Between two locks. SUMMARY: Further up River Road along the Potomac, Bretton Woods Golf Course sits between two locks, Violettes and Rileys, on the C&O Canal. This area, called "Seneca," was well-travelled by slaves escaping along the Underground Railroad.
