BRIEF: "...a retirement home for old and dying priests." SUMMARY: Some local residents in and around Beltsville, Maryland have reported seeing mysterious spirits of cloaked monks in and around an old mansion. That mansion, the Ammen Institute, was owned by a Catholic organization from about 1900. It reportedly "looks like a place that should be haunted." SUMMARY: The house dates back to Civil War days. The house is reportedly haunted. The sounds of footsteps, thunds, banging, are heard that have no explanation. Candles have risen in the air and moved across the room all by themsleves. Ghostly apparitions have been seen. Ghostly soldiers dress in Civil War uniforms have appeared in the house and on the lawn. BRIEF: Beautiful southern Plantation - Haunted SUMMARY: The plantation dates to sometime in the late 1700s to early 1800s. In 1836, the plantation was sold to Jacques Telespore Roman and was called "Oak Alley" by riverboat captains. Jacques' brother Andre Roman served as Governor of Louisiana. Jacques and his wife Celina had a grand mansion designed and built, to include 28 classic colums surrounding the house, 12 foot ceilings and 16 inch thick walls. The final construction was completed sometime around 1841.
The plantation and mansion are known to be haunted possibly by Roman family members. BRIEF: A flloating child apparition, moans and suffering SUMMARY: The Fredericksburg Civil War battle was fought on December 13, 1862. In that battle, the Union Army made an unsuccessful attempt to move south against the Confederate capital at Richmond.
