BRIEF: 18th Century House haunted by a former owner SUMMARY: The home built in 1785, is located near Bryantown. The former owner, Anne Dent Beam, has been seen haunting this home. She died in 1839 and she still makes appearances today. Reportedly, people do not find her scary. BRIEF: She's a shutter bug SUMMARY: Built on the donated property of Thomas Hillary. In 1692, a log structure acted as the first church. It was replaced with a brick structure in 1774. Work took until 1777. BRIEF: A labor of love, once lost, now reclaimed SUMMARY: Millionaire George C. Boldt owned the world famous Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. Perhaps a bit eccentric, or at least with a dramatic flair, Boldt built a true-to-form Rhineland Castle on his private, five-acre Heart Island in Alexandria Bay. With 120 rooms, the fabulous Boldt Castle was modeled after authentic German castles and architecture. The castle was at least partly meant to convey his love and devotion to his wife. No doubt it was to be there special retreat. |
