The house has a history that goes back to the War of 1812. The British Warship H.M.S. Menelause under command of Sir Peter Parker came ashore through Kent County. The Col Phillip Reed Room also known as room #4 has a rocking chair in the room. The employees of the inn have seen this rocking chair rocking back and forth with no one in the chair. One of the owners had a dog that liked to play in that room and he also acted like he was playing with someone. The family's cat would not enter this room. Guests who have sat in the rocking chair have felt something touch their leg. Funny noises can be heard through out the house. The basement gives you a bad feeling.
