Haunts Database

Cemetery Ridge (Pickett's charge)

Gettysburg, Adams County, Pennsylvania
Part of: Gettysburg National Military Park

BRIEF: Location of one of the Civil War’s bloodiest battles.

SUMMARY: A major battle took place on this location during the Civil War. Speculated to be one of the most "haunted" places in America. Numerous sigtings of apparitions, ectoplasm, as well as audible and olfactory experiences. Sounds of calamity, men yelling, and even cannonfire have been reported; smells of gunpowder and smoke.

Groomes Jewelry Store

BRIEF: As cold as ice

SUMMARY: A mischievous spirit haunts The Groomes Jewelry Store. Employees will set up attractive displays, but when they return to work in the morning they find jewelry moved around. There are cold spots in the store. The burglar alarm (has temperature sensors) has tripped often for no apparent reason.

Mountain Road

BRIEF: Bleed Out 22

SUMMARY: The ghost of Mamie Thurman, a lady killed on June 22, 1932 by a still unknown killer (possibly an accident) by means of an errant arrow, has been seen walking the woods where she perished due to bleed out from an unfortunate carotid wound.

Howard Chapel Rd

Montgomery County, Maryland
Part of: Sunshine/Unity area

BRIEF: Howard Chapel Rd bridge over the Patuxent River

SUMMARY: There is a family cemetery located 1/4 from the bridge along Howard Chapel Rd at Elton Farm Rd. Used between 1892-1939, about 18 grave sites are there. By the dates on the tombstones, there are lots of young people burried there. I have heard by several people that have seen things near the bridge down the road. There are no houses around & very little traffic. I was there last night doing a training drill & had a feeling of being watched the whole time. It's very very dark there at night. There is a parking area next to the bridge.

Gold Mines

BRIEF: Casualties of Maryland's Gold Rush

SUMMARY: Many areas of the United States experienced a "gold rush," but most Marylanders do not know that Maryland had its own, including attendant tragedies. Montgomery County was known for gold mining in the 19th Century. A 100-foot shaft was dug near the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and Falls Road around 1867. This mine became the largest and most successful mine in the county. It operated under several different names over 73 years. Over 200-foot shafts with interconnecting tunnels were uncovered between 1900 and 1917.

It's a spirited universe

It's cool to be sensitive and receptive, but not too much. Because you need an off, you need to be able to turn it off. Because it never ends; there's never any ending to energy. --Michael

"When you get old, the only things you remember are the things you dared to do and the things you didn't dare to do. All the daily stuff, the things you had to do, the things someone paid you to do, blur into the nothingness of 'unimportant to your soul', and when you look back on your life you only see the dreams you made happen and the dreams you were afraid to pursue." --P.J.
