BRIEF: Ahunted house with strange occurances, faces, orbs SUMMARY: Old abdoned house on a brromes island farm where an old lady died from not taking her medication back in the 1800's. If you go into the house and walk around you can hear rocking chair rocking and footsteps, also when you try to leave all the unlocked doors you may have came through, will be locked and very hard to open. BRIEF: Soldiers still on an important mission SUMMARY: The Patapsco Guard was a group of Maryland volunteers who organized in 1861 to guard the B&O Railroad during the Civil War. Maryland, being a "flip-flop" state, had supporters on both sides, and hence the B&O transported goods for both sides of the conflict. The PG was a Federal Unit assigned to the Provost Martial, charged with safeguarding the railroads from attack or sabotage. The Patapsco Guard was of course quite active during the Civil War. People say if you stop your car on the bridge you will hear strange noises and sometimes a ghostly apparition will appear. BRIEF: Tragedy over love lost SUMMARY: While I attended Shepheredstown a girl "fell" to her death from a train trestle bridge over the Potomac River, supposedly a suicide over a lost love. A couple of years later I heard people say that you can hear her cry or sob or see her walking the bridge some nights. BRIEF: Ghost on the stair landing. SUMMARY: Nothing is quite like being followed by a ghost. BRIEF: The Major General from Maryland SUMMARY: The Smallwood House was built in 1760 by General William Smallwood. William Smallwood was born in 1732, he was born into a wealthy family who were active in Maryland politics. His father, Bayne Smallwood, was a Charles County delegate to the Maryland Assembly. He was also a justice of the Charles County Court. BRIEF: This place was once a funeral home SUMMARY: The Post Office was once an undertaker's place of business. Many early citizens of Ellicott City were prepared, grieved for, and viewed there. People believe that this building is haunted. Some claim to have heard strange noises and find doors opening on their own. BRIEF: A stone's throw outside the cemetery... SUMMARY: This house is located across from the cemetery and is haunted by a number of ghostly spirits. People have heard the sound of footsteps walking, and the sounds of people talking in the house when no one is present. People have also experienced a feeling breath on their neck. |
