Haunts Database
SUMMARY: Located on Washington Street, part of this house dates back as early as 1814. The O'Neill family has owned the house for 158 years with John O'Neill as the original owner. He is famous for defending Havre de Grace when the British attacked the town in 1813. People believe that members of the O'Neill family haunt this house, since, well, who else would? BRIEF: Cells and gallows and ghosts and stuff. SUMMARY: The building was designed by Dixon and Dixon in 1855 in an "Italianate" style. The land it was built on was donated by one Dr. Grafton Bosley, whose name the street keeps. BRIEF: A murder in 1986 SUMMARY: Unknown recent death. Civil War soldiers' graves. BRIEF: Once for elites, then a Civil War hospital, now haunted. SUMMARY: Just outside of Cumberland, a former inn for elites and the well-to-do was transformed into a hospital during the Civil War. Things haven't been the same since. BRIEF: Sometimes things really do go bump in the night! SUMMARY: The college was founded in 1884 and is haunted by a ghostly apparition that did not like the remodeling. After the school was remodeled every room that was remodeled experienced an electrical fire.
Ghostly apparitions were later seen in the rooms. A security guard had uncontrollable fear when she passed the haunted room at Virginia Intermont College during her rounds as a security officer. BRIEF: In this haunting by Ship Creek, the spirit of an Alaskan Native woman named Marie who was murdered there in 1987 is said to appear to Natives who are homeless and warn them not to linger. The cemetery sits next to an old World War Two materials and ammunition factory. The cemetery is known to be haunted with numerous reports of paranormal activity in the vicinity. Orbs and ectoplasms have been seen and photographed there. Strange sounds have been heard there. Occasionally, a ghostly apparition is seen there.
