BRIEF: A "witch ghost" in a most active cemetery. SUMMARY: Sightings of a "witch ghost" in the cemetery; puts flowers on childrens' graves, grabs feet? BRIEF: Two separate hauntings. SUMMARY: The area near the "Rennfest" is reportedly haunted by a strange spirit, but no one knows for sure who or what it is. People have heard voices and strange noises, and they have reportedly seen various apparitions in and amongst the woods. A young woman was killed in the area, and she may be one of the apparitions who is haunting this area. BRIEF: A chief, a grave, a curse, a treasure. SUMMARY: Chief Twenty Bones was a brave and fearless Indian leader. He died in the early 18th century and he was buried on a ridge just outside of modern Lineboro. He was buried with the treasures he had accumulated during his life. His tribe gave him a big ceremony. The tribe's shaman wanted to ensure the chief safe passage to the spirit world and so placed a curse on the burial site to keep outsiders away. The curse was used to protect the chief's treasure and his burial site. The curse would bring the wrath of the spirit world to whomsoever disturbed the chief's resting place. BRIEF: A stone dedication SUMMARY: A stone memorial on the grounds of Fort Meade that's dedicated to ex-prisoners. BRIEF: Ravaged for centuries by fire and water SUMMARY: Formed in 1771, this is a small mill town that has had spurts of "bad luck" over the centuries. The town has suffered floods and fires all throughout its existence.
Ellicott City has endured a number of fires through the years. A six-alarm fire happened in 1984. An arsonists blaze occurred in 1992. The most recent fire, on November 9, 1999, destroyed five businesses on Main Street. The fire started in a restaurant called Main Street Blues. An employee, having tossed a smoked cigarette out into the back, inadvertently lit the building afire. |
