"Knowledge is more like a stream than a lake, and sharing it does not decrease it." --Zaitsev

"We wish to pursue Truth no matter where it leads. But, to find Truth we need imagination and skepticism, both. We will not be afraid to speculate, but we will be careful to distinguish speculation from fact." --Carl Sagan

Psy-ops "combined to redefine the parameters of acceptable discourse in America. Principal among the notions placed beyond the Pale was the practice and theory of "conspiracism" -- which soon came to include criticism of mainstream reportage. More than a matter of seeing cabals behind every murder, it was a way of thinking, a stance toward the networks, the press and the feds. Anyone who looked too deeply into events, or who asked too many questions, was dismissed as "a conspiracy theorist." (This, after MK-ULTRA, Iran-Contra, BCCI, and the destruction of the World Trade Centers.) In some ways, it is as if the century itself has been encrypted, so that if an historian would be honest, he must also become an investigative reporter. Failing that, we are left at the mercy of ambitious academicians and journalists, stenographers to power who are themselves complicit in an astonishing string of cover-ups and atrocities that stretch from Dealy Plaza to Watergate, Waco to 9/11." --Peter Levenda
Haunts Database
BRIEF: Kent County Public Building: Haunted SUMMARY: The building is haunted by George Read Riddle. His home once stood on the spot where the building now stands. A ghostly dog has been seen on the land howling. BRIEF: Some say Lizzie Borden had an axe to grind. SUMMARY: Lizzie Andrew Borden (July 19, 1860-June 1, 1927) was a New England spinster and a central figure in the case surrounding the brutal axe double-murder of her father and stepmother on a sweltering day, August 4, 1892 in Fall River, Massachusetts. Borden was acquitted when brought to trial, but no one else was ever tried, and she has remained a notorious figure in American folklore. The slayings, trial, and following trial by media became a cause célèbre and have endured in American pop culture and criminology as one of the most celebrated incidents of the Victorian era. Dispute over the identity of the killer continues to this day. SUMMARY: Founded in 1894 by C. Barnwell Robinson, the United States College of Veterinary Surgeons was located at 222 C Street NW, at the foot of Capitol Hill. (The 200 block of C Street was obliterated by the construction of Interstate 395, and is now covered by United States Labor Department's Frances Perkins Building.) Robinson, a native of Ontario, was an 1882 graduate of the Montreal Veterinary College, where he was taught by Duncan McEachran and William Osler. He was President and Dean from the College's inception until 1924. His son, C. Jabel Robinson, ran the college until its demise in 1927. BRIEF: Fort McHenry was used throughout Baltimore's history as a fort to guard Baltimore, Maryland. The fort was active during the War of 1812. SUMMARY: Ghost hunters have investigated the fort and had ghostly experiences, capture ghostly images on film and have identified cold spots. The stories are well known by local residents, and many people who worked at the Fort or visited it can attest to these occurrences.
