BRIEF: Katina haunts this ancient house SUMMARY: The Thornton family was among the early 18th century settlers on the falls of the Rappahannock River. They named their home, plainly enough, "The Falls."
The Thorntons soon enough built another house, more elegant, and named it "Fall Hill." That estate has been passed down to the descendants of the Thornton family and is known to be haunted by ghostly apparitions seen walking throughout the house and on the grounds. BRIEF: What fire could not cleanse SUMMARY: The Worcester State Hospital had been closed for many years with the buildings boarded up. Then the reports of persistent bloodstains on some walls began. During the party, what appeared to be a person in a dark cowboy-like outfit with a big brim black hat sat quietly. Someone noticed the figure and followed it to a room upstairs. The figure turned around and disappeared. BRIEF: The only operating cabled ferry across the Potomac River SUMMARY: There were once dozens, maybe hundreds, of ferries that crossed the Potomac River. This is the only one still operating. |
